David Anders is an American film, television, and stage actor born on March 11, 1981, in Grants Pass, Oregon. He gained widespread recognition early in his screen career as the calculating international operative Julian Sark on the ABC spy drama Alias, turning a recurring antagonist into one of the series’ most memorable characters.

Anders continued building a strong following through distinctive roles in fantasy, science-fiction, and supernatural television. On NBC’s Heroes, he portrayed the regenerative Adam Monroe, also known as Takezo Kensei. He later appeared as John Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries and played Dr. Whale, whose fairy-tale identity was Victor Frankenstein, on Once Upon a Time. From 2015 through 2019, Anders starred as Blaine DeBeers on The CW’s iZombie.
