Biography
Born David Anders Holt on March 11, 1981, in Grants Pass, Oregon, David Anders developed an interest in performing at a young age through school and community theater. While he was active in sports growing up, acting soon became his passion, leading him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry after graduating from high school rather than attending drama school despite receiving acceptance offers.
“Finding that sweet spot between smarm and charm is the challenge,” Anders once noted in an interview. “I’ve been told I’ve found it a good many times.”
After relocating to Los Angeles, Anders supported himself by teaching tennis and working in retail while auditioning for television and film roles. His early appearances included guest spots on popular series before landing his breakout role as the enigmatic Julian Sark on the acclaimed spy drama Alias. His convincing British accent led many viewers to believe he was English, despite being born and raised in the United States.
Following the success of Alias, Anders became a familiar face on television with memorable recurring roles in a variety of hit series.
